City of Tagum Holiday Giant Christmas Tree “PAROL”: Represent Filipino innovation and truly the greatest expression of Christmas spirit that will serve as an inspiration of Filipino ingenuity.
The Soaring Christmas tree was inaugurated and lighted to the public last November 18, 2009 at around 7 o'clock in the evening (which is 4 days before the town Parochial Fiesta of Tagum) led by the Davao del Norte Governor Honorable Rodolfo P. del Rosario accompanied by the elated Local Chief Executive Honorable City Mayor Rey T. Uy who was joined by his wife, the President of Tourism Council Madam Alma Uy, City Vice Mayor Allan L. Rellon, most of the city officials, the Most Reverend Bishop Wilfredo D. Manlapaz of the Diocese of Tagum, the NGO partners, and of course, the good people of Tagum City who witness the momentous events of the year with burning desire for a common cause to make the City of Tagum a beautiful, peaceful and a happy place to live in.
The Holiday Giant Christmas Tree located at the Freedom Park, City of Tagum (right at the heart of the city), has more than 1,230 white colors lanterns displayed in this almost a hectare plaza, constructed almost 55 days in fully steelworks consisting with an 8 layered pyramid-octagon shape like design, standing with a length of 100.06 feet tall and approximately magnificent with its 6,160 pieces pigtail bulbs comprising of 4 colors (red, green, yellow and blue) and with flexi-lights that measures (Blue-164.2 meters; Yellow - 131.5 meters; Green -130.5 meters and Red -162.5 meters) and at the top of it, you can witness the dazzling 6.55 feet tall giant star. The said Christmas Tree, known to be one of the tallest Christmas Tree in the Philippines depict considerable ohhhs and ahhhs among those who stood beside it to have their pictures taken as souvenir of this Yuletide landmark in the City of Tagum, that known to as Palm City of the Philippines, Music Capital in Mindanao, City of Parks and the Home of Festivals.
